Hockey is a life-long passion for Rowan Bremner. At 15, soon turning 16, she's now a blueliner for two teams.

Last weekend, she played her second game as an affiliate with the Cochrane Chaos juniors and is finding her groove in playing the faster game.

Her first appearance was on the road against the Southern Sage. Last Friday, she laced up at home against the Central Alberta Amazons.

"The first game was a bus trip, and I was very nervous. I'll probably remember how nervous I was," she laughs. "Today was pretty good, though."

Chaos head coach Derek Loomer is impressed with her play, calling her a strong skater who generally makes good decisions.

"Tonight, she had a really good game and a couple of strong rushes," said Loomer in a post-game interview on Nov. 22. "Defensively, she's always aware on the safety net side, so she's watching what's going on in front of her, and if we need to have coverage, she's back there and provides good coverage."

"One-on-one, she's really tough to beat, because she skates so well, and is good at watching the body, staying in front of that."

Rowan is no stranger to elite play. She's in her second season with the U18  'AA' Airdrie Lightning of the Alberta Female Hockey League (AHFL) and previously played for the U15 'AA' Olds Grizzlys.

Now in her 11th season, Rowan came through the ranks of Cochrane Minor Hockey, first playing mixed hockey before joining the female program in U13.
