There's something strange coming to the neighbourhood this November and it has a local connection.

A new trailer for the film "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" was released Tuesday morning featuring some familiar backdrops.

The movie used several locations in Alberta for filming back in 2019. That included Calgary, Fort Macleod, Crossfield, Beiseker and Drumheller.

One of the shots in the trailer appears to show the old grain elevator in the tiny hamlet of Dorothy.

The movie, a sequel to the 1984 classic featuring Canadian Dan Aykroyd, was originally scheduled for release last July but faced several delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions in many cities across North America.

It is now hoping for a Nov. 11 release.

This isn't the first time the town of Crossfield has been used for major productions, nor will it be the last. Parts of the Oscar winning film "Brokeback Mountain" were shot in Crossfield and the old CIBC building will be used for the upcoming FX series "Under The Banner of Heaven."

Last month, an Australian film shot in Airdrie and surrounding areas released its first trailer. Right now, there's no official release date for the sci-fi thriller "Risen".
