First responders remain on the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on the hill of Hwy. 1A near Gleneagles that occurred this morning around 8:30 a.m.

A woman with serious injuries has been airlifted by STARS and a second person has been transported from the scene by ground ambulance.

The highway and the lower access to Gleneagles remain closed while the RCMP conduct their investigation and they ask motorists to avoid the area. This is subject to change.

Kary Moore, of the Cochrane RCMP, says they will be issuing an advisory when traffic is no longer impacted and the highway has been cleared.

More details to follow.
