A new fitness craze is happening at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

Pound is a cardio jam session that is inspired by the infectious, energizing, sweat dripping fun of playing the drums.

Tara Greene, Fitness Program Coordinator, says it is a full body work out that will bring out your inner rock star.

"It's to music and it's choreographed. There will be one song and say that song will work on mostly lower body, and then a whole other song would work be more your core, and then there are other one's where there working more your arms. So each song has a choreographed routine with the sticks."

Greene says besides great music playing, Pound offers fitness lovers a new avenue to build strength and engage physically.

"It's a different way of working out, it's more strength too, as opposed to cardio. It's mesmerizing everyone gets on the same beat, the same rhythm, it's really easy to pick up too."

Greene adds the class is built for any age and all fitness levels.

"It is for everybody, you don't need to have any type of experience."

You can drop in to pound out your frustrations every Tuesday from 7:15-8:00 pm, $12/adult and $5/youth (12-17), suitable for 12+ (adult required 12-16)
