In a press conference on Monday, April 20, 2020, Dr. Deena Hinshaw announced four additional deaths from COVID-19 and 105 new cases bringing the total to 2,908 in Alberta. 

1,230 people have recovered in the province and 1,619 are still active cases. 

It was also announced that as of Monday, 100,898 people in Alberta have been tested for COVID-19.

Cases have been identified in all zones across the province:

  • 2,077 cases in the Calgary zone
  • 438 cases in the Edmonton zone
  • 156 cases in the South zone
  • 143 cases in the North zone
  • 77 cases in the Central zone

And 17 cases in zones yet to be confirmed

The province is offering $24.5 million to help contain outbreaks in long-term care centers across Alberta. The extra funds will go to ensure increased staffing and also a $2 per hour increase for health-care aids. 

29 continuing care centers in Alberta have reported outbreaks.
