Orin Larsen, of Inglis, MB, was Canada's top cowboy at the National Finals Rodeo that wrapped up in Arlington, TX over the weekend.

The bareback rider is sixth in the Pro Rodeo Tour with 3,509.4 points by the end of the NFR. Earnings for the year are $152,526.02.

Larsen is grandson to Dennis and Mayda Wearmouth, who live just outside of Cochrane.

Alberta cowboys had some mixed results at the NFR.

Zeke Thurston out of Big Valley, wound up ninth in saddle bronc.

Donalda's Curtis Cassidy was 15th in steer wrestling. while team ropers Levi Simpson, out of Ponoka, and Barrhead's Kolton Schmidt finished 13th and 15th respectively.

Larsen has been a staple at the top of the bareback world standings and continues to strive to capture his first world title. Larsen has finished inside the top-10 in the world standings each of the last five years, with a second place finish in 2019 being his best so far.

Earlier this season he won the Buffalo Stampede in South Dakota, The Coleman in Texas, the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo in Utah, and most notably at the Riggin' Rally in Darby, Montana.
