Dr Deena Hinshaw delivered the numbers for Friday, May 29.

  • 6218 have recovered in the province
  • 3754 tests performed in the past 24 hours
  • 24 new cases revealed
  • 614 active cases in the province
  • 55 people are in hospital and with 4 in ICU
  • no deaths reported

To date, over 250,000 tests have been performed in the province. Dr Hinshaw once again commended the labs and workers performing the tests and said that more can be done. With that she announced that in preparation for Phase 2 of the relaunch testing will be expanded to anyone in Alberta with or without symptoms. Dr Hinshaw says, "This will help to provide data to further understand the impacts of moving to stage two of Alberta's relaunch strategy. Expanded testing will also help us understand where there might be undetected positive cases and therefore prevent further spread of the virus."
