Following the relaunch and the long weekend, Dr Deena Hinshaw was pleased to announce the following numbers:

  • 5584 people have recovered so far in the province
  • 61 people are currently in hospital with 8 in ICU 
  • in the past 24 hours 2428 have been processed
  • 33 new cases have been reported 
  • no deaths to report 

**Cochrane/Springbank area reporting three active and 17 recovered cases 

Dr Hinshaw says, "The virus is still with us and we must do everything we can to prevent the spread at home, when we are out and when we are at work. I want to remind you that working remotely, where possible, is still recommended until stage two of our relaunch." 

Hinshaw continues to encourage Albertan's to download the ABtracetogether app to help speed up contact tracing. Dr Hinshaw reported, "Last week, AHS identified the first COVID case who had the app and information from it validated the contact tracing process. The more people who sign up the more effective the tool will be."

Alberta's top Doctor says, "We are moving forward while continuing to be cautious to and taking all necessary steps to protect the most vulnerable of our family, friends, and neighbours."
