Cochranites got to hit the ice on the brand new rink just before the temperatures begin to plummet.

The brand new downtown outdoor rink is officially open for skating.

It's located at the corner of Second Ave and Second St. W, across from the FCSS building.

Due to COVID-19 guidelines the capacity has been set at a maximum of 50 skaters.

This rink is meant for skating only, hockey sticks will not be allowed.

The space feature benches and there's lots of nearby parking.

Mayor Jeff Genung says "I'm just so relieved and happy that we're doing something positive. COVID has continued to play that narrative of no, you can't and not yet. This is one of those little bright spots and I'm just so pleased that people are happy about this and welcoming it and I can't wait to get out there and skate a lap or two and say hello to a few people that we haven't seen for awhile."
