Cochrane motorists will need to be aware of new parking rules by the Zero Gravity Skate Park and the nearby dog park.

The Town of Cochrane will be updating parking and traffic signs on West Rock Road.

The town says for the sake of safety for motorists and pedestrians, new parking restrictions and traffic signs will be erected on West Rock Road near the off-leash dog park and Zero Gravity Skate Park.

“This change is being implemented in response to a third-party traffic analysis that was arranged by Town staff in the summer,” said Roads Manager Wally Hume. “The study concluded poor sightlines warrant further restriction to the on-street parking and recommended increasing the no parking zones and upgrading them to no stopping zones to allow for improved safety for both drivers and pedestrians.”

Within the next few weeks, motorists and pedestrians  can expect to see:

  1. A new stop sign on West Rock Road and West Side Drive will replace the current yield sign. (the blue dot on the map)
  2. A “No Parking Zone” will be extended along West Rock Road. (the red lines on the map)
  3. Motorists will need to utilize the parking lots in the area as opposed to on-street parking. (green on the map)
