The Rocky View Schools division has received plenty of interest in the expansion of their online learning platforms set for the 2021/22 school year.

The division is currently in the process of creating two new 'online schools'. One will virtually house Grade 1 to 9 students, and the other will be for Grade 10 to 12.

Registration came to a close on May 31, for families interested in pursuing this option, and the response was very positive. By the end of May, 175 students had enrolled in the online high school, which will go by the name of the existing online school "RVS Online."

The interest in the Grade 1 - 9 online school was more than double, with a total of 430 students now registered in that school. The  division has applied to Alberta Education for a new school ID along with the proposed name of "RVS Elementary/Middle Online."

These names are said to be temporary for the 2021 /22 school year, and the board will engage with the respective school communities in the future for the consideration of permanent names.

Bob Rodgers had been appointed Principal of the Grade 1 – 9 virtual school and Dave Smith has taken on the position of Principal of the Grade 10 – 12 school.
