Tomorrow (September 26) is the last day to check out the Cochrane Farmer's Market.

The Cochrane summer staple had a different look, feel and even name this year, but many shoppers and local vendors were happy with the changes.

Brett Braaten is the Owner of Alberta Metal Works here in Cochrane, and he has been a regular at Market by the Bow. Braaten says that as a vendor, he actually prefers this year's location.

"We are able to drive right in on asphalt the entire time," says Braaten. "We're able to set up our displays with limited impact from the weather. Parking is great and there's expansion opportunities for both the market and individual vendors can grow their stalls to suit their needs."

In wake of COVID-19, Market by the Bow set up shop at the spacious Spray Lakes Sawmills Family Sports Centre parking lot this year.

Braaten says that the new location proved to provide shoppers and vendors with a safe market experience.

"The wide, open spaces makes it optimum for social distancing requirements and allows ample room for people to mill about the stalls," he says.

Braaten says that although the usual Ranche House location offers a more scenic backdrop for the market, it was more challenging for vendors when the weather didn't cooperate.

"The Market at the Ranche location had some variability when it rained," says Braaten. They would have to cancel vendors and send vendors home. If you can imagine preparing inventory and then having your stall cancelled for the day, it could be quite a struggle."

It will be interesting to see how the market plays out next season; but for now, Cochranites have one day left to enjoy Market by the Bow before they wrap up for the summer.

The Market runs from 9 am - 2 pm with the first hour designated for seniors in the community.

Braaten says that he'll be there tomorrow, and you can swing by his stall to say 'hi' and check out the detailed work by Alberta Metal Works.
