The Helping Hands Society of Cochrane and Area will be holding a community food drive this Saturday, May 28.
April Baird Programs Manager, says the upcoming drive is one of the largest covering all of west Cochrane which includes:
West Valley, West Terrace, West Pointe, Heartland, Heritage Hills, Bow Meadows, Bow Ridge, and Jumping Pound.
Residents are being asked to leave their donations in a reusable bag or recyclable box on the doorstep by 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 28.
The Cochrane Activettes Food Bank wish list includes:
- canned fruit
- oatmeal
- granola bars
- cooking oil
- coffee & tea
- shampoo, deodorant
- laundry soap
- dish soap
If you are interested in volunteering collection begins at 10 a.m. and is usually wrapped up by noon. Baird says, " The time commitment is actually quite small and it's a huge impact and a wonderful opportunity for families to get their kids involved because the kids actually really enjoy going door to door. It's like a treasure hunt for them to if the donations are out."
