The Cochrane Generals hosted its annual awards banquet to recognize its leaders for the 2015-2016 season.

Eight awards were given out including Top Scorer, Best Defenceman, Playoff Performer, Most Improved, Most Dedicated, MVP, Rookie Of The Year, and Coaches Choice.

Evan McFeeters, former head coach of the Cochrane Generals, says it's important to recognize team members who go the extra mile.

"It's huge for our organization, every year we ask these players to give all they've got for eight months, and it's a large responsibility being the biggest team in the community," he says. "They've done such a great job, and had such a successful year this past season, so it's very important that we give a day or afternoon to these players to recognize their accomplishments."

Goaltender Ty Robinson won Most Valuable player for the season, McFeeters shares he's played an integral role on the Gens.

"He's been with our club for 3 seasons now, he's been the backbone of our organization, and without him we wouldn't have had the success we did this past year."

Gens Alternate Captain Logan Brown was also recognized for his devotion to the team.

"This is his fourth year with our team, he bleeds red, white, and blue, he really takes responsibility with being a leader with hockey club, and as a role model for his team mates. We thought it was really important to recognize his contributions this past year."

Forward Corey "Goose" Goeson was awarded Coaches Choice for his effort on and off the ice.

"He's a player that really lives and breathes the Cochrane Generals, he's a coach's dream. He works so hard every single time he's on the ice, and he's great in the community, he's a good ambassador for our hockey club."
