It was a heartbreaking sight for the Cochrane Generals Thursday evening (March 23rd).

The Gens fought hard through six periods in game 4 of the HJHL Championship, but fell to the Red Deer Vipers 4-3.

Connor Rendell worked his magic in the third period, rallying his team from a 3-1 deficit to tie the game with two goals.

It took until the 3 minute mark of the third overtime before Kale Lapointe scored the game winner, giving Red Deer their first title since 2004.

For Cochrane, the loss is bittersweet after falling in last year's Championship Series to the Mountainview Colts.

Next up for the Gens is provincials, where we know Cochrane fans will be cheeering the loudest.
