Over the past week, parents and guardians of students in RancheView School have been receiving letters about active COVID-19 cases in the school setting. Thursday afternoon saw another letter from Sharon Cronin, the Principle of RancheView confirming a fourth case has been identified.

"Dear parents, guardians, and families, Today, Alberta Health Services (AHS) notified us of a fourth individual associated with RancheView School testing positive for COVID-19. We are working closely with AHS to ensure the necessary precautions are taken to protect students and staff. For privacy reasons, we will not be sharing more information about the individual. Our school will remain open for in-class learning. Additional cleaning will take place over the long weekend. Those students and staff, who our records show would likely have had close contact with the individual who tested positive, have been provided additional information about mandatory isolation and will be contacted directly by AHS."

Monday morning, RancheView School announced it has a COVID-19 outbreak.

For an outbreak to be declared, two or more cases of COVID-19 must be confirmed in a school setting within a 14 day period and the outbreak status will be lifted when there have been no new confirmed cases in the school in 28 days.

According to Alberta's online map, RancheView is the only school in Cochrane with any active cases.
