With active COVID-19 cases at a record high across the province, we are now seeing an increase of cases in the school divisions, including Rocky View Schools. (RVS)

Rocky View County is now reporting 125 active COVID cases and in a letter sent home to parents last week, a Springbank school has added its first case.

The letter states that an individual from École Elbow Valley School has tested positive for COVID-19, and the K- 4 school is working closely with Alberta Health Services (AHS) to ensure that the necessary precautions are taken to protect students and staff.

For privacy reasons, the school didn't disclose whether the individual is a student or staff member. Additional cleaning of the facility has already taken place and the school will remain open for in-class learning.

Anyone who would have likely been in close contact with the individual who tested positive has been provided additional information about a mandatory isolation and will be contacted directly by AHS by email in the days ahead.

RVS is stressing the importance of individuals staying home if they are sick, and to refer to the Alberta Health Daily Checklist on a daily basis.
