Tonight's fireworks are a go at 8:45 p.m.!

This morning the Cochrane Lions Club got the all clear from the Cochrane Fire Service to proceed with what will be a brilliant display being launched at Mitford Park.

Kevin Firkus, the club's rodeo co-chair, says parking will be available at the park area and parking attendance will guide people into their spots. Social distancing must be practiced for the well-being of everyone.

You can expect a large crowd at the park, but there's plenty of other vantage points from which to enjoy the display.

"They should be high enough that any elevated place will offer a good viewing point," says Firkus.

That includes the Cochrane Lions Rodeo Grounds, where many will likely sit in the bleachers to watch the show.

"Come out an enjoy it. It should be a good show and we're looking forward to it."

The Cochrane Lions Club had no choice but to cancel the Labour Day Weekend rodeo but wanted to make sure residents had something to enjoy this weekend. With the help of their sponsors, they organized the fireworks, as well as a four-day food drive that saw a rodeo chute toured through Cochrane neighbourhoods.
