The Cochrane Eco Centre will not be reopened, even on a limited basis, after all.

Yesterday, interim town CAO Drew Hyndman announced they have reversed their decision.

"On further discussions with senior management and with staff, we've determined this not feasible at this time," said Hyndman during a Facebook Live presentation late yesterday afternoon. "The safety of our employees and our residents is our number one priority, so we're not proceeding with the reopening of this facility."

Hyndman says they are looking at other ways to offer the service and will be providing further details in the future.

Previously, the town said they were going to opening the facility in a limited capacity, largely in anticipation of warmer weather and the return of yard work.

He reconfirmed the town's off-leash parks will remain open and asked residents to be vigilant in following the required physical distancing protocol.

"We're going to continue to monitor the situation, as well. We're going to make the necessary adjustments as required to ensure the safety of the community."
