The Okotoks Dawgs have advanced to the WCBL west division finals against the Sylvan Lake Gulls.

Last night, the top team in the west division completed the sweep of the best-of-three series against the Brooks Bombers with a 14-2 win.

The series kicked off with a decisive 14-6 win on Monday night for the Dawgs, due in no small part to infielder Ricky Sanchez, whose outstanding night included going five for six.

Fans rose in the crowded stands and the Dawgs dugout exploded when he hit the cycle in the seventh inning with a double. He ended the night with a home run, two triples, double, and single.

Last night, Sanchez was on point once again, going four for five with two RBI and two runs. McCoy Pearce was three for four with two RBI and three runs.

The Sylvan Lake Gulls punched their ticket to the western final with back-to-back wins against the Fort McMurray Giants.

Okotoks hosts Game One of the best-of-three west final this Friday (Aug. 12).

The Medicine Hat Mavericks face the Moose Jaw Miller Express in the east division final. It's also set to start Friday.

The Dawgs set a new league regular season record this summer with 43 wins and just 13 losses, surpassing the 41-win total of the Regina Red Sox in 2019.
