There are now six active cases of COVID-19 in Cochrane and six in Rocky View County.

In today's update, Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw reported 164 new cases of the virus. There are currently 1,433 active cases. Forty-seven people are in hospital, including nine in intensive care.

She asked Albertans to continue to follow safety protocols while they're relaxing this weekend.

"The number of cases reported today is a clear reminder that we cannot afford to be reckless. COVID-19 does not take holidays, and we have seen weekend barbecues and other gatherings spark outbreaks in the past.

"I want encourage all Albertans to have fun while making safety a priority this weekend. Relax, enjoy yourself, but remain vigilant. There are many ways to have fun while doing it safely."

There were no new deaths in the last 24 hours. The virus has claimed the lives of 242 Albertans.
