The countdown to Halloween is on and the question on just about everyone's mind is --What does that Trick or Treating forecast look like?

So far the fall weather has held up and we've been consistently hitting the mid to low double digits.

Sadly according to Environment Canada's Warning Prepared Meteorologist, Natalie Hasell that is all about to change.

Hasell says we can expect much cooler temperatures heading into the weekend, coupled with what could be classified as pretty spooky weather.

"We do have a chance of rain showers or flurries on Thursday," explains Hasell. "Then the real action happens on Friday! For your area, easily 10-20 cm of snow is likely."

It's not a trick ... and it's definitely not a treat. Hasell says that by tomorrow evening winter driving conditions will once again become our reality.

"Starting on Thursday night we've got some pretty good gusts [of wind] in the forecast, about 50 km/hr," explains Hasell. "You'll have winds while that snow is blowing so reduced visibility and heavy blowing snow -- making driving conditions very wintery and potentially difficult."

With a dump of snow expected just days before Halloween, Hasell says that those walking door-to-door conditions aren't looking great on Sunday either.

"The fact that the nighttime temperatures are still below zero, and well below zero on Saturday night and into Sunday morning could mean that you're going to end up with some pretty slushy stuff during the day and some frozen, slippery stuff after the sun sets," explains Hasell.

If you bought a larger Halloween costume this year, you may want to layer your snowsuit underneath, and winter boots probably won't go astray either.

It's inevitable, winter is coming and Hasell recommends getting geared up ASAP.
