A 15 year old local high school student is facing one count of uttering threats after posting hostile content to the app 'Snapchat'.

On Friday, June 3, RCMP received a call that the teenager had posted a picture of himself with some gun ammunition, along with a caption that warned students not to attend Cochrane High School on Monday, June 6.

After investigating RCMP identified the boy, who was then arrested and charged.

The youth is now prohibited from coming into contact with firearms or ammunition, and is restricted from using his computer unless it is for school purposes until June 23.

RCMP say they are aware the posting had resulted in social media comments about the safety of students at Cochrane High Schools, however, police say no one other than the accused was involved in this incident.

The accused will appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on Tuesday, June 14.
