Three Cochrane schools gathered together on a gorgeous fall day to run and remember the legacy of Terry Fox today (September 28) at their annual Terry Fox Run.

Cochrane High School, Manachaban Middle School and Elizabeth Barrett Elementary School students ran in the event to raise money for cancer research through the Terry Fox Foundation.

Cochrane High student Brady Church says all three schools raised funds in different ways for the run.  They all held assemblies prior to the start.  Church says this year, Cochrane High produced a ten minute video featuring students and teachers who've been affected by cancer.

"We filmed a video of them talking about how it's impacted them, like what happened and why they think the Terry Fox run is important.  We had Fraser Costen who's a grade 11 student at the school and is absolutely amazingly gifted in all technological areas.  He cut the video together and so we played that this morning at the assembly."

Church says the students were excited about the run.  "Every year our teacher Miss Haxton is in charge of the run and she pretty much organizes the whole thing, plans the theme, makes sure all the parts are moving correctly.  She does a really great job of it so we've had good runs and I think everyone's excited about it.  They're excited about the event but it's also very heavy, the topic of cancer."
