There is only one competitive swim meet left in the regular season for Cochrane's summer swim club.

The Cochrane Piranhas continue to impress their coaching team through their hard work, commitment, and dedication not only just by showing up but giving it all they got. This past Saturday (July 20), fourty-six Piranhas travelled west to Canmore for their Invitational Meet; Head Coach, Breanna Hendriks says the swimmers once again pushed themselves and the proof is in the results. "It went really good. A lot of best times from everybody in general. Our little guys did 100 IM for the first time so that was exciting! There were lots of good swims."

Hendriks shares she backed off of distance training for the Club's older swimmers a little bit at the tail end of last week, which seemed to help. "They were able to get some really good swims in, even considering they are so tired. I was really happy with that because once we get closer to Provincials and Regionals, we start backing off on the volume and we do more sprint stuff. I have noticed by even just doing that one day less of metres it made such a difference for them."

These next couple of weeks are intense, states Hendriks, as Regionals at Calgary Repsol Sport Centre on August 10th and 11th inches closer.

Next up, the Cochrane Piranhas compete in the Calgary Swordfish Invitational Meet on Friday and Saturday (July 26 and 27).
