The committee of the Cochrane Light Up have made the very difficult decision to cancel one of the most popular and beloved events held in Cochrane, the Cochrane Light Up.  The annual event has fallen victim to COVID 19 and will not happen this year. Organizer Stephenie Shelstad, says, "It's going to be a very weird fall for me this year this would have been my 8th Light Up. I don't know what I'm going to do with my self."

Shelstad says it was a very hard decision and was not made lightly. She spoke to all the members of the committee to get their feelings on the subject. She says, "We all feel the number one factor is COVID and the health and safety risks around it, but also the financial side the event. The event isn't possible without a lot of community support and money and right now with everything that is going on in the world, I don't think it's fair to go out and hound businesses for money this year. It's been enough on everyone's plate."

Shelstad is a frontline worker and is very aware of the constantly changing rules in the COVID world and would also hate to see everyone put all the work and effort into only to have it cancelled.

So it is onward to 2021 and you can be guaranteed that the Cochrane Light Up will be bigger and better than ever!
