The Royal Canadian Legion Cochrane Branch 15 has a loyal membership that is working hard to keep the organization running. Like many other community organizations, the Legion is feeling the financial pinch due to the pandemic. Typically, the Legion rents out its space for functions and holds various events that have been directly impacted by the size of crowds that can attend the facility.  Recently, volunteers have been busy selling the annual lottery raffle tickets to raise funds that help support the Legion's building fund by selling tickets for the chance to win cash prizes. Three draws have already been awarded and the final grand prize draw will be made on October 9, 2020, for the amount of $5000.

The volunteers were very busy and successful in their efforts as all the tickets have been sold. Bill Lockwood, a Legion member was one such volunteer working to help out the facility that is dear to his heart he says, "There are a lot of good volunteers there and you meet a lot of good people, members of the legion and of course we are always looking for new members."

Cochranite's have been very supportive of the Legion and as Lockwood says, "A person does not have to be a member to visit the Legion and take part in the draws and all the events we have." To see what the Legion does have to offer go to their website here.

Anyone who missed out on purchasing raffle tickets and still wishes to make a donation can do so by visiting the Legion. As Lockwood says you can visit and may eventually want to become a member, which the Legion would happily allow.
