The Cochrane BMX Club wrapped up its on the road season in style, with 15 riders placing in the top three of their age division at Grands and the Provincial Championship in Red Deer.

It was another record breaking event over the weekend in Red Deer, Cochrane BMX President Brad Christensen says the talent across Alberta was awesome to see.

"Knowing some of that talent is coming right from Cochrane is just so great," he says. "They did so well this year, this is the big wind up, it's all their hard work for all the year. We had some finish first overall in their ages, I'm just at a loss of words at how happy, and proud I am of these riders. They conduct themselves on and off the track with such class and respect, it was an amazing weekend."

Christensen shares everyone at Cochrane BMX worked very hard all year, and it paid off.

"To see the smiles on their faces, it just puts an exclamation mark on how hard every single one of them worked all year. It makes me so happy seeing them all with pictures of their trophies. It makes it all worthwhile, all the crashes , all the near misses, all the tears, everyone forgets about everything and goes away happy on Saturday."

He says the Cochrane BMX Club's membership is growing at an outstanding pace, and the organization is looking to put in a bid to host a Provincial Race in Cochrane next year.

The club will host a few more local races, weather permitting, and will host the last Strider Ride of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
