The Cochrane Historical & Archival Preservation Society (CHAPS) is gearing up for its 25th anniversary celebration this summer and are inviting interested people to lend a hand.

CHAPS president Larry Want says they've already had a few people step forward to help and welcome more.

Last week, town council endorsed a wood sculpture that will be located adjacent to the Cochrane Musuem to commemorate the 25th anniversary. It's being carved by local artist Brian Widahl, of Widahl Woodcraft and will be completed in time to be unveiled at the summer celebration.

While July 31 is CHAPS birthday, the exact date of the celebration is currently being pinned down. When it does occur, Want says they have a few things up their sleeve to make it special.

In the meantime, CHAPS is holding their annual spring fundraising dinner on Apr. 20 at the Royal Canadian Legion, starting at 5:30 p.m. It includes a roast beef dinner, raffles, and some brief presentations, and Want says it's a highly sociable event.

Tickets are $65 and can be purchased by contacting any of these people: Bernice (403-932-6597), Larry (403-932-4531), or Lydia (403-932-2366).
