Monday morning, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the announcement Canada is shutting its borders to anyone who is not a citizen or permanent resident.

The Prime Minister held a press conference outlining these new measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Closures will not apply to trade or exchange. Airlines will now screen all passengers before they board their flights and if anyone displays any symptoms, they will not be allowed to board.

“Anyone who has symptoms can’t come to Canada,” Trudeau said.

It was also announced that the Canadian government will assist Canadians abroad that are having trouble getting home, by covering the cost of travel or accommodation if you are unable to return home.
