Alberta Health Services has sent a letter to Bow Valley High School which was subsequently forwarded to parents.

It reads in part:

"Two or more cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at Bow Valley High School. The Medical Officer of Health has requested Alberta Health Services (AHS) Public Health staff initiate an investigation. This investigation will determine who may have been exposed at your school to cases of COVID-19 during their infectious period."

An outbreak is described as having two or more cases of COVID-19.

Bow Valley High School and AHS will continue to work together to contain the situation.

There are currently active alerts or outbreaks in 227 schools, or about 9.3% of the schools in the province.

Schools have a combined total of 872 cases since January 11th.
