With domestic violence cases on the rise in the Cochrane area, the role of the Big Hill Haven can't be understated.

November is Family Violence Prevention Month in Alberta, and the nonprofit society has organized a series of events throughout the month to raise awareness.

“The goal of Family Violence Prevention Month is to raise awareness of family violence and the resources available to help those in need as we work to end family violence,” says Big Hill Haven chair Valerie Gilmore. “Part of Big Hill Haven’s mission is to lead our community in understanding the issues related to family violence.”

Big Hill Haven has four events planned, plus the Jack Tennant Memorial Bridge will be lit in purple on Nov. 25.

Here's an overview.
