Cochrane's largest annual garage sale is set to go this weekend.

When this community garage sale first started 13 years ago, it brought in about $700 for charity.

Organizer and realtor with the Leah Real Estate Group, Debbie Leah said last year they raised $5,000 and each year it keeps getting bigger.

The money raised goes to the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation which then goes to local charities, and they choose Big Hill Haven as the recipient.

Leah said right now they're in the process of collecting donations.

"The things that we're looking for are bedding, sheets, curtains, children's toys of course. All kitchenware, bicycles, yard stuff is really good, and any household furniture items that we could move around easily, that we don't need Hercules to come in and move around."

They aren't able to accept clothes this year.

You can drop off donations at the Cochrane Lions Event Centre on Thursday and Friday between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Realtor Marni Fedeyko said there will be various market vendors on hand so you can shop for both new and second-hand items.

The second hand sale is by donation.

"There's no prices really unless it's a really high-end expensive item, then we'll kind of price it out. We ask people to come in, be generous and if you have $20, then you can take whatever you'd like for $20. We're happy to see it go. It's about repurposing goods, but also giving back to a great charity in need."

The garage sale will go on Saturday, June 3 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will also be a comedy show on Friday night at the Cochrane Lions Club Event Centre. Food will be provided by the Butchery Block, and all proceeds will go to support Big Hill Haven.

Tickets are $20.

The comedy show goes June 2 at 7:30 p.m.
