Cochrane's largest annual garage sale is coming up in just over a week.

Leah’s Marketplace, Cochrane's Biggest garage sale will offer locals the chance to score a great find while supporting Cochrane's only women's emergency shelter.

Organizer and realtor with the Leah Real Estate Group, Debbie Leah said they started off 14 years ago in their parking lot but the sale has grown so much they now fill the Cochrane Lions Event Centre each year.

"The garage sale has just gotten big over the years. What people can expect is a huge variety of, I would actually like to call it flea market kind of stuff. We have, of course, lots of the dishes, the Christmas decorations and any of the household items that people would be wanting to look for."

The sale typically raises $3000 to $5000 each year, said Leah.

"The way that the community comes together and supports this cause really touches my heart. We get beautiful donations, items that we can sell for a good value. Those kinds of things always just kind of makes my heart flutter a little bit when I see them."

All proceeds from the annual sale goes to Big Hill Haven. and representatives from the non-profit will be on hand to answer questions.

Donation drop offs can be made at the Cochrane Lions Event Centre on April 25 and April 26 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The donated items should be in good condition but there are a few items they are not able to accept said Leah.

"We can't take any bedding, like mattresses, box springs or anything to do with a bed such as headboards and bed frames. We can't resell them or we can't donate them afterwards. We can't do any books this year, no clothing, any large electronics, large commercial printers, big TVs, that kind of stuff. We can't manage any of that stuff or tires."

There will also be a ladies wellness evening happening prior to the sale on Friday, April 26.

It will feature an evening with multiple practitioners on hand including a chiropractor, reflexology, meditation, massage and more.

All proceeds from the ticket and raffle proceeds will be donated to Big Hill Haven.

The garage sale and market will go Saturday, April 27 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Food trucks and miniature ponies will be on hand.
