For nearly a month now, active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta have been on a downward trend and yesterday (February 14) that direction continued.

The number of active cases fell by 56 to 5,215, marking the 29th consecutive days that active cases have fallen in the province.

284 new coronavirus cases were reported out of nearly 8,000 tests.

Unfortunately, five more deaths were also reported, one of them a health care worker in the Edmonton area.  That brings the death toll to 1,780 Albertans.

351 Albertans are in hospital, down 20 from Friday and 60 are in intensive care units, four fewer than the previous day.  As of Saturday, over 145,800 people in the province have received at least one shot of COVID-19 vaccine, with nearly 51,000 receiving both doses needed.

The number of active cases in Cochrane climbed slightly over the weekend, and Cochrane is currently sitting at eight active cases.

Thirty-three active cases were reported in Rocky View County, unchanged from the previous day with another 825 people having recovered.
