Are you 55+ and want to play some hockey with your peers? Then, this one's for you.

Paul Cox says a 55+ hockey group for men and women is being formed to play every Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the Spray Lakes Family Sports Centre starting on Oct. 12.

Cox says they are looking for people who can come out regularly and aim to build two teams.

"What we want to do is as we build a complete roster, then we're going to try and balance the teams out," says Cox. "So, a little more organized than shinny hockey."

He says they already have six people interested and would like to attract 20 skaters and two goalies.

Once they surpass 20 players, they'll build a spare/waitlist.

He says it's all about coming out to have some fun and getting a little exercise.

He says there's no extra charge for those who have memberships at the rec centre. Those without can play as little as $39 per month, working out to just under $5 per game.

Full equipment is required and regular oldtimer rules apply. There's no body contact or slapshots allowed.
